"Fanfani Neuroscienze": The New Center of Excellence for TMS in Tuscany

Discover the services offered by the new Neuroscience Point opened at the Fanfani Institute in Florence: Neuromodulation Therapies and Intravenous Therapy for the treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders, improving health and sports performance!

"Fanfani Neuroscienze"The New Center for Care and Health Promotion

In Psychiatry, Interventional Therapy offers a breakthrough for treating Anxiety and Mood Disorders. Since April 2024, a new Neuroscience Point has opened in Florence, which is the result of the collaboration between Dr. Stefano Pallanti's Istituto di Neuroscienze and the Fanfani Institute, a unique partnership that strengthens the excellence of healthcare in Italy.

The Interventional Therapy method adopted by the "Fanfani Neuroscienze" Center is designed to control blood levels, accelerate treatment response, minimize side effects, improve therapy adherence, and overcome treatment resistance. These are innovative services in which the results of the latest scientific research are made available to patients.

Leading this initiative is Dr. Stefano Pallanti, a world expert in interventional therapy and a pioneer in the use of cutting-edge therapies for the treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders. Since 2005, Prof. Pallanti has been using innovative therapies such as repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) and Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS).

At the new "Neuroscience Point", Neuromodulation Therapies are offered on an outpatient basis together with Intravenous Infusion Therapy (IV Therapy) that Dr. Pallanti started in 1989, when in Italy this form of therapy was only available at Dr. Pallanti's Istituto di Neuroscienze. The "Fanfani Neuroscienze" Center offers the full range of interventional therapies based on Dr. Pallanti's over 30 years of experience.

The facility, located in Florence at Piazza Indipendenza, 18A, offers a real holistic health experience in the very center of Florence just a few steps from the central train station!

The Center's MethodInterventional Therapy for Care and Well-being

The primary goal of Dr. Pallanti's Istituto di Neuroscienze is to provide patients with the most advanced and effective solutions for treating neuropsychiatric disorders and improving well-being while ensuring maximum safety.

To achieve this goal, the "Fanfani Neuroscienze" Center adopts the Interventional Therapy method developed by Dr. Stefano Pallanti at the Istituto di Neuroscienze. This approach is unique in Italy and is capable of:

  • Controlling plasma levels to define and monitor treatment

  • Accelerating the response to treatment

  • Reducing side effects of pharmacological therapy

  • Overcoming resistance to therapies

The method adopted by the center allows the application of scientific research results to the care and improvement of well-being, enabling the development of innovative research-based services offered to patients to provide personalized and effective pathways.

Services Offered by the Center Treatment of Disorders and Performance Improvement

Interventional Psychiatry

In the field of Psychiatry, the Interventional Therapy method represents a breakthrough in the treatment of disorders. The new "Fanfani Neuroscienze" Center represents a landmark for Interventional Psychiatry, offering personalized pathways for the following therapeutic areas:

  • Psychiatric Disorders: Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, ADHD, and much more.

  • Cognitive Disorders: Prevention of Cognitive Decline, Post-Stroke Rehabilitation, Early Cognitive Disorders, Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), and Alzheimer's Disease.

  • Eating Disorders: Obesity and Binge Eating, Anorexia, Bulimia.

  • Reproductive Psychiatry: Postpartum Depression, Psychiatric Disorders during Assisted Reproduction, Psychiatric Disorders in Pregnancy.

The Center offers various treatment modalities that can be personalized and integrated to target the symptoms and causes of disorders in a precise way. This provides patients with a safe and effective alternative to traditional treatments, especially when they have been ineffective:

  1. Neuromodulation Therapies: In addition to repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) and Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS), the "Fanfani Neuroscienze" Center also offers innovative solutions such as Photo-Bio-Modulation (PBM) and Neurofeedback, providing patients with a wide range of therapeutic tools for the effective and personalized treatment of several conditions.

  2. Intravenous Therapy (IV Therapy): At the "Fanfani Neuroscienze" Center, patients can also receive pharmacological therapies administered intravenously. This way of treating psychiatric disorders is particularly indicated for patients who have not improved with previous pharmacological treatments and can offer: excellent tolerability — fewer side effects — shorter response times.

Neuroscience for Sports and Health

The "Fanfani Neuroscienze" Center also offers a Neuroscience for Sports and Health service, open to everyone, including professional and amateur athletes. Through precision Nutraceutical interventions integrated with non-invasive Neuromodulation Therapies, the Center offers services capable of:

  • Improving physical and mental health: through personalized programs acting on well-being and cognitive performance.

  • Enhancing sports performance: by increasing concentration, reaction speed, and physical and mental endurance.

  • Increasing safety: through injury prevention interventions and rehabilitation from concussions and other traumatic events.

The services offered by the Center include a careful medical assessment combined with the definition of neuro-functional parameters useful for establishing personalized goals. In this way, it becomes possible to structure individual intervention programs that can make the best use of the innovative and targeted therapies offered by the Center to improve mental and physical health.

Neuromodulation Therapies Offered by the Center

rTMS

A non-invasive and non-pharmacological therapy that uses magnetic fields to stimulate or inhibit specific brain areas, highly effective for the treatment of many disorders.

tDCS

A completely painless therapy particularly suitable for children due to the high freedom of movement it allows, used in many treatment and rehabilitation areas.

PBM

The latest technology for Central Nervous System treatment that utilizes increased cerebral blood flow to stimulate brain metabolism and promote neuroplasticity processes.

Neurofeedback

A procedure that allows learning to modulate and regulate one's Central Nervous System, used to treat psychiatric disorders and promote high-level performance.
